Sunday School

Ps 78:4 says, "We will not conceal them from their children, but tell to the generation to come the praises of the LORD, And His strength and His wondrous works that He has done".

This is exactly what our Sunday School tries to achieve. We have always had an active Sunday School at IPC Shalom Worship Centre and IPC Zion Hall since the beginning . Since the Sunday School is at the core of our children’s christian development, our mission is to help ensure that we reach all of our children irrespective of age or language barriers. We train, equip, and motivate teachers to evangelize and nurture spiritual development among children with special emphasis on Bible teachings.

Someone once said that the heart of a child is like a blank paper, and when given to an artist, will be painted as a beautiful picture; whereas in the hands of an immoral and corrupt person, it will be spoilt and thrown into the waste-bin. This reveals the fact that in order to get molded in to a good, civilized and cultured generation; the small children are to be trained accordingly. The root cause of the present day unrest around the world is due to the lack of proper training of our young ones. The motto of Sunday School is to train the children in the way that they should grow.

Shalom Sunday School begins at 8:45 am every Sunday morning. Currently, we have over 70 students studying in 12 different classes based on their age. Our team of dedicated teachers, under the able leadership of Sis. Smitha Jose, teach the children through Bible stories, activities, games, songs & much more. We follow the Karnataka State Syllabus Sunday School Text Books. We also have a small group of children that meets every Sunday evening from 3pm – 4pm at IPC Zion Hall, Lingarajapuram for Sunday School.

Apart from the weekly scriptural studies, we have yearly talent competitions where the children actively participate in various activities like memory verse recitation, solo, skit, speech, essay writing, monoact, bible quiz, etc. Winners from these events compete at the district and state level and over the past years our Sunday School students have done extremely well.

Alumni of our Sunday School have been actively serving the Lord, not only in our local church but in different parts of the country and the world.
